    1998 vintage

    The colour of this wine is still a deep crimson red with hints of garnet. The blend, with a high proportion of Cabernet Franc, offers ripe, sweet spicy aromas, with a note of white pepper, well supported by the presence of sweet elderberries and blackberries. In the mouth, this is an elegant Margaux with a fine tannic structure and very good length.

    - Merlot: 17 to 28 September
    - Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon: 28 September to 3 October

    Average yield: 40.40 hl/ha

    BLENDING

    - Cabernet Sauvignon: 66%
    - Merlot: 11%
    - Cabernet Franc: 23%

    MATURING

    Château DURFORT-VIVENS 1998 was matured in barrels for sixteen months with 43% new barrels. Fining was carried out in barrels with natural egg whites.
