2004 vintage

The 2004 vintage has a deep crimson colour with shades of violet. The nose is intense and complex with aromas of fresh berries, a touch of blackcurrants and blackberries and then spices and pepper. In the mouth, the tannins are of excellent quality; good length and a hint of vanilla make this a vintage with lots of character. The wine is powerful but elegant, proving itself in its length, richness in fruit and freshness.

HARVESTING

Harvest dates:

- Merlot: 29 September to 7 October
- Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon: 7 to 16 October

Average yield: 57 hl/ha

BLENDING

- Cabernet Sauvignon: 60%
- Merlot: 35%
- Cabernet Franc: 5%

We began to put the wine in barrels at the beginning of October 2004 and had finished by early November. The final blending took place in January 2005.

MATURING

All of Château DURFORT-VIVENS 2004 was matured in barrels for eighteen months with 45% new barrels.
