1999 vintage

Durfort-Vivens 1999 is an enchanting vintage with a bright colour of deep garnet with hints of crimson. The nose starts with notes of coffee beans and toast, filling out with a delicate spicy nuance of vanilla and cardamom. On aeration, intense aromas of fruit (blackcurrants and blackberries) dominate the sweet notes of tobacco leaves that complement this pleasant sensation.

Combining strength and finesse, this wine is particularly well-balanced in the mouth. The ripe tannins and silky structure underpin the expression of ripe fruit and sweet spices.

HARVESTING

Harvest dates:

- Merlot: 10 to 22 September
- Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon: 23 to 29 September

Climate conditions:

Apart from 20 September, when heavy rain interrupted the harvesting of the Merlot, the harvests took place in favourable weather.

Average yield: 45 hl/ha

BLENDING

- Cabernet Sauvignon: 68%
- Merlot: 20%
- Cabernet Franc: 12%

The final blending and barrelling took place early in January 2000.

MATURING

All of Château DURFORT-VIVENS 1999 was matured in barrels for eighteen months with 40% new barrels.
